Counseling
Mission Statement
The mission of the Aledo ISD Guidance & Counseling Department is to provide a comprehensive guidance and counseling program which fosters academic success, college and career preparation, and social and emotional development. Through effective communication, Aledo ISD school counselors will consult and collaborate with students, parents, teachers, and members of the community to advocate on behalf of all students.
Program Overview
There are four components to the overall comprehensive Guidance and Counseling Program in Aledo ISD. They are: Guidance Curriculum, Responsive Services, Individual Planning, and System Support. The responsibilities of each area are as follows:
  • Guidance Curriculum - Guidance lessons on a variety of topics; large-group consultations with students
  • Responsive Services - Individual counseling sessions; parent consultations regarding individual student needs; coordination with outside referral sources
  • Individual Planning - Academic and career guidance; parent and student consultation regarding planning and goal-setting; interpretation and analysis of assessment instruments
  • System Support - Community outreach; parent education programs; teacher consultation; school improvement planning
 
 

 

Announcements
2016-2017 Credit by Exam (CBE) Information
Aledo ISD will provide Credit by Examination (CBE) without prior instruction for the purpose of course acceleration provided the following criteria have been met:
  • Students must be enrolled in Aledo ISD to be eligible for CBEs
  • Completed registration form submitted to campus Principal or CBE designee by the scheduled registration deadline - late registration is not available
  • Student may not have attempted CBE more than twice in the same subject
  • Student must have passed and received scores from previous course to schedule the next course (IE: pass Math 7A/7B before registering to take Math 8A/8B)
  • Based on District policy, only exams administered by the District will be considered for credit
The following EOC subjects are not available for CBE for acceleration: Algebra I, English I, and English II.

Testing is offered at no cost to the student. However, failure to report for testing session(s) will result in the parent reimbursing Aledo ISD for the cost of the exam(s). Testing is conducted in 3-hour sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Students are limited to one exam per session.

February 22, 2017 testing date - registration deadline January 20, 2017
June 14, 2017 testing date - registration deadline May 12, 2017
June 15, 2017 testing date - registration deadline May 12, 2017
August 8, 2017 testing date - registration deadline July 11, 2017
High School Graduation Requirements

This video details the new graduation requirements set forth by House Bill 5 in the Texas Legislature in 2013. They take effect beginning in the 2014-2015 school year with the 9th graders (class of 2018).
